The ceremony host assists with several tasks and has many practical responsibilities before, during, and after the ceremony.
Therefore, we always recommend a ceremony host at farewell ceremonies. Before the ceremony, the host ensures that all objects and floral decorations are arranged properly. During the planning process, the host coordinates the officiant, organist, caretaker, soloist, and any other participants in the farewell act.
At the ceremony, the host assists guests with their outerwear and shows them to their seats in the ceremony hall. They distribute program cards and any bouquets that have been delivered to the venue, and also coordinate the guests when it’s time for the final farewell.
During the farewell ceremony, the host photographs floral decorations and documents messages from the mourners. He or she also removes any floral and mourning decorations and restores the venue or location where the ceremony was held after the farewell has ended.
