Dressing up for a solemn farewell ceremony is a fine way to show respect to both the object of the farewell and the closest mourners.
Traditionally, clothing for such an occasion often goes in muted and dark colors. For example, men often wear black or dark blue suits and white shirts, preferably with a dark tie. The color theme also applies to women, but often with other color shades. It is common to wear a dress, skirt, or dress pants of a finer type together with a blouse.
Children and teenagers can wear clothes in which they feel nice. Their clothes do not need to go in dark tones.
Many choose light clothes
Choosing light clothing at the farewell ceremony can be a nice way to honor and embrace the bright seriousness that also characterizes farewell ceremonies. Here the choice is great, but the colors can advantageously go in calm tones such as beige, light gray, light blue or light pink.
Other dress codes
If the advertisement says “optional dress code”, it means that dark or light clothes in muted colors are always good. If there is no mention of dress code at all, it is generally wise to dress in dark and discreet colors.
Personal requests
Sometimes there are special requests about clothing. It can be about a favorite color, a particular garment, or some other personal request. In such cases, it is of course appropriate to try to accommodate the requests, provided it does not feel uncomfortable.
